  • Firefighter/ Emergency Responder

    1. The Red Deer County Firefighter/ Emergency Responder fall 2020 intake is now closed for the Red Deer District. To apply for the 2021 intake, please check back December 1, 2020 or contact Fire Services at 403.343.6667 for more information. Applications are welcome year-round in Bowden, Delburne, Elnora and Spruce View districts.

    2. Job Specific Requirements

      - Resident of Red Deer County, Bowden, Delburne, Elnora, Spruce View
      or the City of Red Deer
      - Minimum of 18 years of age
      - Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
      - Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
      - A current and acceptable Driver's Abstract (5 year)
      - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      - Valid First Aid/CPR Level C with AED Certificate
      - Physically able to carry out the required tasks/duties of the position
      - Able to obtain an RCMP Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
      - Able to obtain a Medical Examination certificate
      - Able to work as part of a team
      - Able to commit the necessary time and effort
      - Able and willing to respond to emergency incidents at various times of the day/night

    4. Firefighters and emergency responders make a huge difference in their communities by attending public relations events and responding to calls for service such as: motor vehicle collisions, grass/wildland fires, medical assistance, structure fires, fire and carbon monoxide alarms and many others. The broad range of calls that firefighters and emergency responders attend allows for diverse training opportunities and the ability to make a significant difference in the communities we serve.
