Flood Warning and High Streamflow Advisories update

PSA

A flood warning for Little Red Deer River remains in effect. According to the latest information from River Forecast Centre, they are expecting that the peak flow will reach the bridge over the Little Red Deer River on Hwy 587 sometime later this afternoon or evening with potential to top over onto the highway at this location.

High Streamflow Advisories remain in effect for the Red Deer River and its tributaries upstream of Gleniffer Reservoir as well as the Medicine River and the Red Deer River downstream from the Dickson Dam. The Dickson Dam is increasing their discharge to upwards of 250 cubic meters per second which will increase the flows of the Red Deer River downstream.

Red Deer County is actively monitoring water levels and has closed all day use areas along the Red Deer River until further notice. Residents in low lying areas or adjacent to water courses should take necessary precautions.
