At the April 27 Council meeting, Red Deer County Council approved 2nd and 3rd reading of the 2021 Tax Rate Bylaw.
Mayor Jim Wood remarked, “The zero increase in municipal tax rates’ shows that Red Deer County is truly a business-friendly environment. By holding the line on taxes, we are encouraging new growth in all of our sectors.”
Notwithstanding the new Provincial Police Services Agreement that came into affect on April 1, 2020, the Bylaw reduces the penalty rate from 6% to 4% for the 2021 taxation year and continues to hold over the tax rate from 2020.
Taxes are due June 30. The County is strongly encouraging those who are able to continue paying their taxes in full or in smaller partial payments. No penalties will be assessed until July 1. For more information, contact Red Deer County Centre at 403.350.2150.
