Do you have an emergency plan in place for your farm?
Red Deer County developed a free Farm Emergency Plan template that lets farmers, producers and landowners create their own emergency plan to keep their family members, employees, contractors and visitors safe in the case of an emergency or disaster situation.
The template contains many references to livestock, but can be adapted for any farming operation to mitigate the hazards to buildings, people or commodities. This plan is personal to each farm operation, so producers can make it fit their own needs.
Farmers and producers are invited to complete and submit their Farm Emergency Plan to Lisa Dormuth, Emergency Management Coordinator (email@example.com) to be included in a draw to win one of two prize packages. Prize packages include:
- Basic emergency preparedness kit
- Solar powered radio
- $50 gift card to the Gasoline Alley Indoor Farmer’s Market
County Emergency Management staff are available to guide or assist in completing the plan if needed.
Contest deadline is May 31.
