Rental Equipment


Red Deer County has an assortment of herbicide spraying equipment and tree planting equipment available for rent to landowners, for use on private land. 
 Note: Red Deer County does not have seeders, aerators, mowers or tree spades available for rent.


24 hours notice is required to book rental equipment. Damage deposit (cash or cheque) is required upon pick-up/delivery and will be returned upon passed drop-off inspection. Click on the equipment type below to view cost and required damage deposit.

  1. ATV/UTV Sprayer
  2. Small Pull Behind Pasture Sprayer
  3. Large Pasture Sprayer
  • Great for weed control in rough areas, acreages and tight spaces
  • Has a hose and handgun (50 ft. long)
  • 14 gallon tank
  • 8 foot wide boom or about 30 foot wide boomless
  • 0.6 to 1.6 acres per tank depending on rate
  • Mounts on an ATV rack or can be strapped to the back of a UTV
  • Requires 12 volt plug or connection to a battery
  • Rental: $25/day, Damage Deposit: $150

  2. Plastic Mulch Applicator
  • Free rental
  • Ideal for planting long rows of bare root or plug style tree seedlings
  • Two seater, can plant up to 3,500 trees in 1 day
  • Requires 3+ persons to operate (1 driving in the tractor, 1 on the tree planter, 1+ to walk behind ensuring trees are straight and compacting dirt)
  • Maximum towing speed of 80 km/hr
  • Minimum 40hp tractor with pioneer style fittings
  • $150 damage deposit (cash or cheque) required, can be rented for up to 2 weeks
  • Trees not supplied

Tree Planting Equipment can be rented for up to 2 weeks at a time; tree planting equipment rentals are FREE for Red Deer County landowners. Note: Red Deer County does not supply tractors, crews, trees or plastic mulch.

Agricultural Plastics Recycling Program

A partnership between Lacombe County, Red Deer County and Ponoka County.

This program is offered to ensure the proper recycling of plastic grain bags. Agricultural producers in Lacombe County, Red Deer County and Ponoka County can access this service, free of charge. More information about this program can be found on the Lacombe County webpage.
