Red Deer County Council participates in a 10 year FCSS Multi-Municipal Agreement. For decades, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has been working as a provincial-municipal government initiative to enhance the social wellbeing of individuals, families and community in an effort to keep people resilient, well, and from falling into crisis.

Delburne Community Kitchen meets once a month. Community members are invited to join us as we prepare a variety of meals together, for families of approx. 4 members. Cost is $40 per family. Delburne Cooking with Seniors – Starting a pilot project, inviting seniors to come together weekly to socialize and prepare take-home meals. Project to run in October and November on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM at Delburne Community Hall. Cost is $5 per week. Come join us as we enjoy visiting and cooking together. Healthy Relationships is a project that targets violence prevention through promotion of positive, healthy relationships. FCSS will be delivering this program this fall in Delburne Centralized School to Grade 7 and 8 students. For more information, contact Carol, FCSS, 403.749.3654.

Coats for Kids – Gently used winter apparel of coats, toques, scarves and mitts can be donated to FCSS and will then be given to children, youth and teens in need. For more information please callact Sheila, 403.773.3920.

Elnora Play School – Wednesdays and alternating Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Elnora School in Kindergarten Room. Sarah Hogg is new teacher. Elnora Youth Centre – Is your child, youth or teen looking for some great after-school activities? The Elnora Youth Center has received an additional 3 years of funding until 2020 so our youth have a wonderful opportunity close to home. For more information, please call Janina at 403.773.3920.

Playgroup – Wednesdays at Penhold Memorial Hall (1123 Fleming Ave) from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM. $2 drop-in, $1 every additional child, babies are free. Program for ages 0-5. It is a safe, fun environment for your child to learn socialization through play. Schedule: Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 15, 22, 29, Dec. 6, 13, 20.

Hallowe’en Spooktacular – Friday, October 27 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Penhold Multiplex, Under 2 is free, $3/person or $10/family. Archery Tag (ages 7 and over), music, fun, tricks, carnival games, and treats. Wear a costume to enter to win a prize!

Springbrook Archery Club – Fall hours began in September, Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Fridays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Springbrook Community SkatePark Committee – Fundraising in full swing for the new park. Next meetings are October 4 and 18 at 7:00 PM, Springbrook Fire Hall.
Springbrook Community Garden – Volunteers needed to get things ready for winter months. Clean up and work bee set for October 14-15 weekend. Check out Springbrook Community Garden on Facebook for more info.
Discover Springbrook – Community Info. Fair on October 17 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Building 14 (corner of 24 Street and 34 Avenue). Check out programs and services offered to Springbrook and Red Deer County residents.
