Red Deer County Council participates in a 10 year FCSS Multi-Municipal Agreement. For decades, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has been working as a provincial-municipal government initiative to enhance the social wellbeing of individuals, families and community in an effort to keep people resilient, well, and from falling into crisis.

DELBURNE FCSS

Delburne Community Kitchen is starting up again for a new season. Community members are invited to join us as we prepare meals together. We will meet monthly to prepare a variety of meals for families of approx. 4 members. Cost is $40 per family. Planning meeting – Wed. Sept. 27 at 6:30 PM, Delburne Village Office. Cooking day is Sat. Delburne Cooking with Seniors – We are starting a pilot project, inviting seniors to come together weekly to socialize and prepare take-home meals. Project will run for October and November on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM at Delburne Community Hall. Cost is $20 per month. Come join us as we enjoy visiting and cooking together. Philips Lifeline – Lifeline Service allows you to summon assistance when you need it by pushing the Auto Alert Help button. The Auto Alert button provides an added level of protection by calling for help when it detects a fall. For more information, please call Sheila, 403.773.3920.
Dancing 101 – Country Pride Dance Club was established in 1991 for all Central Alberta communities to learn and promote country dance. Dance classes in Elnora start in October. If you are interested in joining the class, please contact Sheila, 403.773.3920.

Playgroup – Wednesdays at Penhold Memorial Hall (1123 Fleming Ave) from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM. $2 drop-in, $1 every additional child, babies are free. Program for ages 0-5. It is a safe, fun environment for your child to learn socialization through play. Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25.
Penhold Youth Club (PYC) Open House on September 14 and 15 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Penhold Regional Multiplex, 2nd floor beside Kids Kingdom and Meeting Room 2. For grades 4-12 and parents. Parents and youth – come check out Penhold Youth Club’s Open House! Meet staff and participate in some activities, prizes and draws, and don’t forget to have some fun! Home Alone Course (ages 9 to 12+) – Saturday, September 23 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Penhold Multiplex, Subway Club Room. Cost is $50, register at http://app.bookking.ca/bkpenholdpub/. Course covers Street Smarts, People Safety, Routines, Family Rules, Safe Activities & Snacking, Online Safety, Fire Safety, and Basic First Aid.
Babysitter’s Course for ages 10 to 15 – Saturday, October 14 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Penhold Multiplex, Subway Club Room. Cost is $50, register at https://app.bookking.ca/bkpenholdpub/. Deadline to register is Friday, October 6.

SPRINGBROOK FCSS

Springbrook Archery Club – Fall hours begin in September, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Club is available for private bookings and parties. Located downstairs through south entrance of Springbrook Multiplex. New archers welcome! Call Donna, 403.573.4451 for info.
Springbrook Community Skate Park Committee – Fundraising in full swing for the new park. Next meetings are September 6 and 20, at 7:00 PM, Springbrook Fire Hall.
Springbrook Community Garden – Volunteers needed to help with our community plot harvest, all produce goes to those in need! Harvest happens on Sept. 10 at 10:00 AM until we’re done. Home grown market on Sept. 9 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Movie in the Garden on Sept. 8 at dusk, movie TBD. Call Call Adrian for more information. Youth Garden Program wraps up on September 10 at the harvest..
Conversation on Community Safety – FCSS worker will be hosting a facilitated conversation on what community members can do to keep them, their loved ones, and their property safer. Join the conversation on Sept. 18, at 7:00 PM at Springbrook Fire Hall.
