Wednesday, August 2 tour showing innovative agriculture in the CountyRed Deer County encourages the public to get their tickets for the 2017 Entrepreneurial Ag Tour. The Entrepreneurial Agriculture Tour (EAT) is an annual event hosted by Red Deer County’s Agricultural Service Board. 2017 will be our 15th anniversary year for the tour.Red Deer County is proud of its local farmers, and will be showcasing a great selection of these impressive farm operations. Both urban and rural neighbours who are interested in learning details of today’s farming practices should plan to attend this exciting tour.The array of farms that we will be experiencing on the 2017 E.A.T. will include beef, dairy, hog, and crop production, along with a malting facility. The tour will provide the opportunity to observe how technology is used on the farm, including robotic milkers, computerized hog feeders, barn cameras linked to cell phones to monitor calving, and precision agricultural equipment. The tour will also visit a local malting facility that supplies malt to several craft breweries throughout the province.The tour is an all-day event on Wed August 2. Tickets are $30.00 and can be purchased from the Red Deer County office with payment by cash, debit or cheque.
