At the Oct. 16, 2018, meeting, changes to Red Deer County Utility Service Accounts were approved.
Municipal water, sewer and residential garbage pickup services are provided in some areas of the County. Effective Jan. 1, 2019, an account for any of the utility services offered by the County may be applied for and opened by an Owner only. Renters will no longer be eligible to open an account.
An owner is defined as the registered owner of the property, or in the case of a mobile home located within a mobile home park, the owner as noted on the County’s assessment roll.
This change does not apply to current utility service accounts held in the name of a renter; it will only apply when the account is closed and a new one for the property is opened.
In addition to this change, minor increases to the monthly fixed fees and usage charges for both water and sewer services were also approved and will go into effect January 2019. Copies of the both the new Fee Bylaw and the current bylaw are available on the County’s website, click on the Bylaws and Policies tab on the left-hand side of the home page (www.rdcounty.ca).
Any questions related to these changes may be directed to the County’s Utility Clerk at 403.350.2151
