Family Services: Upcoming Events in your community


Red Deer County Council participates in a 10 year FCSS Multi-Municipal Agreement. For decades, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has been working as a provincial-municipal government initiative to enhance the social well-being of individuals, families and community in an effort to keep people resilient, well, and from falling into crisis.

Benalto Leisure Club meets every Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Leisure Centre. Great way to get out and meet new people. Play some games, eat some food, and have fun. Everyone is welcome!
Benalto Play Group is every Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at the County Building (former school). Free play and crafts for children aged six and under. Grand opportunity to meet other Benalto families.
Benalto Agricultural Society meets third Tuesday every month at 7:00 PM at Benalto Leisure Centre.
Benalto Booster Club meets second Tuesday every month at 7:30 PM. This club is responsible for many community activities and events. Come out and get involved!

Cooking with Seniors Open House - Tues. Sept. 18, at 1:30 PM at Delburne Drop-In Centre. This community group of members aged 55 and over get together to socialize while making a meal to take home. Guest speaker from DNA Gardens will teach you about fruits that are good for general inflammation. Lean to make powerful and delicious smoothies to assist you in your good health. Harvesting Herbs - Community Herb Garden located in Community Garden at end of Main Street. Public is welcome to pick for their own use. Variety of herbs include Lettuce Basil, Italian Parsley, Hot & Spicy Oregano, etc. Use them fresh or dry them for later!

Penhold Fall Festival – Join us in Penhold for fun weekend from Sept. 7 to 9. Friday evening starts with midway rides, craft beer and wine festival, mobile lockdown rooms, food trucks, and Cool Beans coffee bus. Saturday – Pancake breakfast, Market, midway rides and games, kids corner, hockey tournament, food trucks, and fireworks. Sunday – Free movie (Incredibles 2), hockey tournament, and family skate.
Smile Cookie Week – Sept. 17 to 23. Purchase cookie from Penhold Tim Horton’s (100 per cent of proceeds to to Penhold Youth Club to provide youth programming in Penhold. Please support the Youth Club by buying cookies. They freeze well, so buy lots!
Daddy & Me – Sat. Sept. 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. SportBall happening from 1:15 to 2:15 PM. Registration is required for SportBall.
Home Alone Course – Sat. Sept. 29 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Penhold Multiplex in Subway Club Room. Cost is $50. Learn about street smarts, people safety, routines, online safety, fire safety, and basic first aid. Register today at
Family Week Events – Week of Sunday, Sept. 30 to Saturday, Oct. 7. Sunday – Free Family Movie at Penhold Multiplex. Wednesday – Family Picture Night at Penhold Library. Thursday – Family Board Game Night, Subway Club Room in Penhold Multiplex and Free Family Drop-In at Gym. Sunday, October 7th – Free Family Skating from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM.

Springbrook Archery Club – Winter hours start Sept. 4. Thursdays, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Fridays 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Fall fun leagues start Sept. 6 for all ages (8-week league). Call for details or to register. Club available for private bookings and parties. Springbrook Community Skatepark Committee (SC2) – Corporate Sponsorship Packages now available. SC2 has permanent bottle donation bin on skatepark land behind Springbrook Multiplex, all money raised goes to skatepark construction. Next meetings are Sept. 19 and Oct. 3 5 at 7:00 PM, Springbrook Fire Hall. Everyone welcome!
