To accommodate the construction of a northbound collector-distributor (CD) road as part of the Highway 2/Gaetz Avenue Interchange project, the north end of Gasoline Alley East (north of Poplar Street) and the western-most portion of Spruce Street will be closed for 30 days, beginning on Monday, June 11, 2018. This schedule is weather dependent. This collector-distributor road is one of two being constructed on both the east and west sides of Highway 2 that will provide access to Gasoline Alley, improve traffic flow and allow for safer entry back onto the highway. Access to businesses along Gasoline Alley East will be maintained throughout the closure.Traffic heading north on Gasoline Alley East will be detoured east on Poplar Street, north on Petrolia Drive, then briefly west on Spruce Street to 49 Avenue. Those wishing to access northbound Highway 2 can then do so from 19 Street. The westbound access from Spruce Street onto Gasoline Alley East will be closed as part of this closure and will remain permanently closed. Eastbound access to Spruce Street from Gasoline Alley East will re-open after this 30-day closure and will be intermittently closed throughout construction. Once construction is complete, eastbound access to Spruce Street from Gasoline Alley East will remain permanently open. The Highway 2 / Gaetz Avenue Interchange is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018, weather permitting.
