On April 26, roughly 80 members of the Red Deer Junior Forest Wardens Club (the Red Deer Woodchucks), got together to pick garbage out of County ditches in Gasoline Alley. Wardens from age 5 to 18, along with parents, grandparents, older siblings and friends, worked from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and got most of the ditches in Gasoline Alley clean. In the end, almost 900 kg of trash was picked up and sent to the Horn Hill Transfer Station. That’s a lot of coffee cups and cigarette packages!Garbage should of course, be going into garbage cans and dumpsters and not into our ditches. That said, it’s very much appreciated when local people and organizations pitch in to help keep Red Deer County a great place to live, work and grow.
