Upcoming FCSS Events in your community


Red Deer County Council participates in a 10 year FCSS Multi-Municipal Agreement. For decades, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has been working as a provincial-municipal government initiative to enhance the social wellbeing of individuals, families and community in an effort to keep people resilient, well, and from falling into crisis.

Benalto Leisure Club meets every Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Leisure Centre. A great way to get out and meet new people, play some games, eat some food, and have fun. Everyone is welcome!
Benalto Play Group is every Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at the County Building (former school). Free play and crafts for children ages 0 to 6 years. Great opportunity to meet other families in Benalto.
Benalto Agricultural Society meets third Tuesday every month at 7:00 PM at Benalto Leisure Centre.
Benalto Booster Club meets second Tuesday every month at 7:30 PM. Club is responsible for many community activities and events. Come out and get involved!

Delburne Friendship Plates – New program is launched to encourage neighbourliness. Three plates have been put into circulation with hopes that residents will share with their neighbours and friends. To track the travelling plates, the sharing people are asked to sign the plate back with a permanent marker.
Lend a Hand Program is designed to offer assistance to someone that may need a helping hand. Tokens available at Village Office or in both Free Little Libraries. Fill in with the service you are willing to offer, then deliver it to the person you want to help.
Community Garden – Set for season start-up. Planting day is Saturday, June 23.
Forms Assistance Program – Support is available for seniors completing government forms.
Volunteer Board Governance – Resource material available at FCSS Office. If you need information on Board Governance, Agendas, Minute Taking, etc.

Elnora Youth Center – Is your child, youth or teen looking for some great after school activities? The Elnora Youth Center has received an additional 3 years of funding which goes into 2020 so our youth have a wonderful opportunity close to home. For more information, call Janina at 403.773.3920.
Recycling Plant Tour – Friday, July 6, leaving Elnora at 8:30 AM. Stopping at Lacombe Farmers Market, enjoying lunch at Eastside Eatery, then to Totally Gluten Free Bakery, touring CanPak recycling plant and touring Innisfail and District Historical Museum, returning about 6:00 PM. Elnora Lifeline administered by Elnora FCSS. For a minimal monthly fee, residents can access help 24 hours a day. Simply push the Lifeline Help Button to connect to a Response Centre. For more information please call 403.773.3920.
Little Free Libraries – Elnora has 3 Little Libraries and all are full of books for all ages. This been a huge success. For more information on the Little Libraries please call FCSS.

Seniors Week – June 4 to 9. Gerald Miller will be reading his cowboy poetry at Drop-In Centre on Tuesday, June 5 during regular coffee time from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Hlinka Gretzky Cup – Tickets now on sale for Hlinka Gretzky Cup pre-game in Penhold on August 4! Pregame party in the Multiplex from 12:00 NOON to 3:00 PM for whole family to enjoy. Tickets available at

Springbrook Archery Club – Summer hours start in June, open for drop-ins on Thursdays, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Club available for private bookings and parties. Located downstairs through south entrance of Springbrook Multiplex. New archers welcome! Call Donna at 403.573.4451 for information.
Springbrook Community Skatepark Committee (SC2) – Corporate Sponsorship Packages now available. SC2 has permanent bottle donation bin on skatepark land behind Springbrook Multiplex, all money raised goes to skatepark construction. Next meetings are June 20 and July 4, at 7:00 PM,
Springbrook Fire Hall. Watch for big Spring fundraiser and block party, “Kick Flip Into Summer” on June 24 from 12:00 NOON to 4:00 PM. Everyone welcome!
Springbrook Community Garden – Now accepting registrations for 2018 growing season. Raised garden beds for those with mobility issues are now available. Volunteers needed to help maintain Community Plot, all produce goes to those in need. Contact Adrian for more information or to register.
Summer Youth Program – Watch for youth programs going in July and August, including 2 field trips and couple fun local activities for youth 6 and up. Check the Springbrook Connects pages on Facebook for more information.
Yoga in the Garden starts June 7 at 6:00 PM and runs weekly until August 23. Drop in is $4 or $25 for all season. Join instructor Michelle Brink in Springbrook Community Garden picnic area behind Springbrook Fire Hall. Beginners, children and youth welcome.
Shakespeare in the Garden – Sunday, July 29 at 7:00 PM. Join Prime Stock Theatre for special performance of “A Midsummers Night Dream”, complete with popcorn, beverages, and treats! Free performance, proceeds from concession to community garden. Bring your own blanket or chair.

Spruce View Playgroup/Spruce View Parent Link – Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Spruce View Hall. No charge, parent supervision required. Great way to meet local area parents and children.
