Red Deer County Council and staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. 2017 saw a great deal occurring in the County, with large construction projects, a Provincial Ag Service Board tour, a new Economic Development strategy, inter-municipal agreements, and a community needs assessment all being completed. The election in October saw a return of the same Council members, with the exception of Dana Depalme in Division 3. Since then, Council has embarked on a new strategic plan for 2018. The plan will set out Council priorities, and provide direction for staff, as they prepare for the coming year. Staff are also busy determining their respective budgets. These figures will be outlined in the award winning Red Deer County Budget document, which will go before Council for consideration in December.Look for more information on Council’s strategic plan and budgetary information in future issues of County News.Red Deer County Council: L to R - Christine Moore (Division 6), Jean Bota (Division 2), Philip Massier (Division 1), Mayor Jim Wood, Dana Depalme (Division 3), Connie Huelsman (Division 4), and Richard Lorenz (Division 5).
