On Monday, October 16, Red Deer County residents went to the polls to choose their representatives for the next 4 years. In Division 1, Philip Massier was acclaimed to serve in his third term. In Division 2, Jean Bota was elected to serve in her second term. In Division 3, newcomer Dana Depalme was elected to serve in her first term. In Division 4, Connie Huelsman was elected to serve in her second term. In Division 5, Richard Lorenz was acclaimed to serve in his third term. In Division 6, Christine Moore was elected to serve in her second term. Jim Wood returns for his third term as Mayor of Red Deer County, and fifth term on County Council.Given the difference of just 4 votes in Division 3, Candidate Don Church requested a recount, which was conducted by the Returning Officer on Wednesday, October 18 at 1:30 PM. After recounting the ballots from each voting station in Division 3, there was no change in the voting numbers, confirming Dana Depalme as the successful candidate.At the October 24, 2017 Council Meeting, this newly elected Council decided on Board & Committee appointments for the upcoming year.
